On Saturday 21st of July Choi Kwang Do Martial Art International  students and instructors gathered at CKD’s Atlanta headquarters for a special training session with the founder (Sahjonim) Grand Master Kwang Jo Choi 9th degree Black Belt.  The highest achieving students, who had worked extremely hard for the past 3 months to collect donations from neighborhoods, schools, malls, work places, etc.  for the Malaria Foundation International  were invited to train with the founder.  Mr. Gary Collins also traveled from Michigan to Georgia with his assistant instructors Andrew Pappas and Clint Wehner to participate in the festivities.  Mr. Bill Hadley, head of the first professional Choi Kwang Do School in Wisconsin, was also in attendance.  After the training session and photographs the festivities continued into the evening with a dinner banquet at The Classic Gourmet Chinese Restaurant.

Sahjonim Kwang Choi,  Grand Master Woo, and Malaria Foundation leaders Drs. Mary Galinski, Esmeralda Meyer, Cindy Korir, and Balwan Singh were present at the dinner to celebrate with the instructors and students who participated in this venture.  International Chief Instructor Charles Spence Jr. opened the ceremonial event by addressing the crowd, thanking everyone for the special dedication to the Malaria Foundation International and its Blue Ribbon campaign to End Malaria.

Over 20,000 dollars has been raised to support the Malaria Foundation’s fight against this disease.  Dr. Galinski, President of the MFI, expressed her admiration and appreciation for the group’s special dedication and the CKD-MFI partnership.  She indicated that the funds will be used to support educational projects beginning in Kenya, Botswana, and India.  A similar celebration will take place in Michigan on Saturday 11th of August where once again our special guests will be Grand Master Choi and Dr. Galinski with the Michigan Instructors and students.  Choi Kwang Do is committed to the Malaria Foundation International to help educate and bring awareness about malaria to the general public, while raising funds to help fight this widespread and deadly disease.  The End Malaria - Blue Ribbon Campaign will be starting shortly in Choi Kwang Do Schools in the UK, Malaysia, India, and Australia.  For more information please visit www.malaria.org and www.choikwangdo.com.
